Winter is a great time to work on still life paintings. I usually look for a theme when I create a still life. In this case, it was set up as if I were planning out my garden for the spring. Actually, I do this but not quite as formally.
I initially set up the still life without the tray but added it to bring the background together. As you can see, I also changed the color of the background to be more peachy-rose rather than the ochre color fabric. Hey, it’s my painting; I can do what I want! This is oil on a 20×20 canvas.
