Saturday Morning, oil, 30 x 40

I’ve been a professional artist for 30 years.  Initially I worked in watercolor but now work almost exclusively in oils.  About ten years ago I started biking and painting, that is, strapped all my gear onto my bike and pedaled away.  This has taken me around Southern Indiana, along the Ohio River, and to Provence, France.  These days I take every opportunity to get out early (mostly on weekends) to do some plein air painting, either alone or with some friends.  I find my years of watercolor experience actually has helped me to transition to oil painting as the skills I learned to work quickly are very necessary in order to capture the changing light effects of outdoor painting.
